About the event
On January 3, 2025, the Government of India released the draft Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules, outlining a framework for implementing the DPDP Act of 2023. These rules are essential for establishing data protection standards and have significant implications for various stakeholders.
Pacta organized consultations in partnership with:
Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies
Citizen Digital Foundation
Central Square Foundation
The three consultation sessions familiarized several civil society stakeholders with the implications of the DPDP Act and Draft Rules for their operations and identified key challenges in implementing data protection measures. Pacta has compiled and submitted to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to inform the public consultation process. Participants were also encouraged to send their comments through the Civis chatbot, facilitating participant engagement.
